Shelly joined Kernutt Stokes through the firm’s acquisition of Spectrum CPA Group, LLP in 2018. Originally from the Midwest, Shelly was raised in a rural area and spent summers working in the grass seed industry driving trucks and farm equipment while also working as a bookkeeper for her family’s business. This work experience provided the foundation for her successful career that has spanned over 30 years.
For Shelly, being a CPA has never been solely about the numbers. It’s the relationships she has built with her clients over the years that have brought her much fulfillment. Being a trusted advisor and part of her clients’ success has been very rewarding. Because of her vast experience in the agribusiness industry, particularly the Christmas tree and nursery sectors, Shelly has spoken at numerous conferences across the country on topics such as tax, accounting practices, and estate planning. In addition to providing traditional accounting services, Shelly works with clients on estate and succession planning, entity structure, and ownership transition.
Shelly has two married children and two grandchildren who live in the Portland area, and she happily spends her free time with them whenever she can. Traveling with friends and family is a passion she continues to explore. She also enjoys golfing, boating, playing cards, and reading a good book in a sun-warmed deck chair.
